Equity Research Associate

Position Summary: Support Equity Analyst in preparing industry and company research by collecting, organizing and analyzing data, writing investment-related research reports and creating/maintaining financial models.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop familiarity with industry and related companies in order to assess the relevance of news and other data;
  • Gathers data about assigned industries and companies;

  • Performs quantitative analysis of macroeconomic variables that impact the industry;

  • Maintain computer databases covering industry and related companies;

  • Assists in preparation of written industry and company specific reports;

  • Assists in development of financial models for revenue and income forecasts, cash flow analysis, balance sheet and quarterly projections;

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Experience:

  • PC skills sufficient to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations and email;

  • Communication skills sufficient to effectively summarize, explain and field questions about specific industry-, company- and market-related developments;

  • Writing skills to efficiently produce reports in a concise and timely manner;

  • Organizational skills sufficient to perform duties with frequent interruptions and changes in response to company announcements and/or market conditions;

  • Quantitative and analytical skills sufficient to assist in developing corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics.

  • Knowledge of the chemicals industry is a plus

Education: 3.5+ GPA, Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry majors preferred.

Licenses and Certificates: NASD Series 7 license or ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire. NASD Series 86/87 license or ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire.

Hours: 40+ (Additional time may be required).

Travel Required: Minimal (Less than 5%)

Working Environment: Climate-controlled office environment during normal business hours
