Senior Asset Manager – Retail Property
Part time, 3 days per week

Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) was established in 1988 as a wholly owned and central part of the Royal London Group, now the UK’s largest customer-owned insurance company. Since then, RLAM has built a reputation as one of the UK’s leading fund managers with an award winning track record and exceptional standard of client service.

RLAM provide investment management solutions to retail, wholesale and institutional clients such as not-for-profit organisations, local authorities and the insurance sector. They invest across all major asset classes to outperform the benchmark for internal and external clients and manage £113.6 billion of assets (at 31.12.2017), an increase of more than 100% over the past four years. RLAM pride themselves on the people they employ, their excellent performance and delivery, and the wide-ranging group of clients they manage money for.

Reporting to the Head of Retail, RLAM are looking to make an important appointment of a Senior Asset Manager specialising in the Retail Sector within their Property team. The role will be on a part time (3 days per week) basis.

This individual will play a leading role in the active management of property investment assets ensuring they outperform the benchmark for the various Funds that we manage. They will have the opportunity to manage a wide and varied portfolio of retail property (high street and out of town) and be part of a team who have responsibility for a property portfolio in excess of £2.5 billion.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable in depth retail property market knowledge and experience with clear expertise in actively managing a retail property portfolio. The individual should be able to think creatively about how to extract value from their portfolio of assets by considering asset development opportunities, by re-gearing leases and through ongoing communication with occupiers.

The RLAM Property team operates on a collegiate basis so we would also look for the candidate to contribute to the wider retail team in terms of idea generation and providing support on sales and potential purchases as appropriate. They will also be able to contribute to the wider team discussions on forecasting and property and fund strategy.

The Senior Asset Manager role is a unique opportunity to fulfil a highly impactful part time position at an exciting time in RLAM’s evolution as one the UK’s leading fund management companies. There is an ambitious business agenda with a clear strategy to build upon recent successes, accelerate growth and continue to lead innovation within the industry. RLAM benefits from a track record of strong business results and an ideal scale of operation that balances capability and reach with a flat operating structure.
